Parts Needed For Redarc Tow-Pro Brake Controller on 2024 Kia Carnival

Updated 02/05/2026 | Published 07/29/2024

Question:

I would like to install a electric brake system with the addition to the seven pin connector on a 2024 Kia Carnaval. I have already installed the hitch and the wire harness for the 4 pin connection from your company. I am looking for options of the controller and the seven pin connection I had used your company to do the same hookup on my 2014 Dodge Caravan. I have the Redtec controller with the small light up dial knob and the addition of the fuses and wires that I ran from battery to the seven pin connector. Looking to do this same run on my new van.

Hi John,

We can most certainly get your 2024 Kia Carnival set up with the Redarc brake controller like you have in your Caravan, and you do have part of the equation already with the Curt 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # CU94FR.

The only other things you'll need now are the 7-way and wiring, along with the brake controller itself, which you can get with the following:

- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7

- Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR

You'll plug your 4-way into the 7-way that comes with the # ETBC7, which also gives you the wiring, circuit breakers, and rest of the hardware needed for installation.

Hey John, how did the setup go with the Redarc brake controller and the ETBC7 kit on your Kia Carnival? Your update could make it easier for others planning the same wiring upgrade.

@SamuelC I have not had a chance To install this yet. I did an install on my 2014 caravan and went perfect. I ordered this for our new KIA Caravan thinking it would be similar. However this is not the case. Engine bay is very crowded and much plastic so hard to even install and gave up. Also lower under carriage is covered with plastic covers that impedes an easy install. I am looking at readdressing this in spring and installing so we can then tow with the KIA If your team has installed on a Carnival and has any pictures or even thought I am more than happy to receive this information Thanks

@JohnW I don't blame you waiting till spring, its been very cold this winter so far in Missouri. We have not tackled this job yet on a Carnival, so I don't have any specific tips. I have installed these on some other vehicles, and best advice I have is get the car as far off the ground on all four corners as possible so you can get under it comfortably to route that wire to the battery/brake controller, and stay away from the exhaust/suspension/axles which I'm sure you know from doing this before as well. Let us know how the install ends up!
