Recommended Smaller Trailer Tires to Replace 5.30-12 Tires

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/28/2024

Question:

Hi. I have 5.30-12 tires on my trailer right now. I need to the trailer by a few inches. Will 5.30-8 tires lower it? Do they make 5.30-8 tires? I’m only seeing 5.70-8. Will the 5.70-8 tires fit the same hub? Thanks.

They do make 5.30-8 tires but we unfortunately do not carry them. If you're looking for a smaller tire to lower your trailer, then I'd suggest going with the Kenda 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" Galvanized Wheel # AM30630 for a 4 on 4 or # AM30670 for a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern.

These tires are 4.80-12 which is going to be 1.4" smaller in diameter than your current 5.30-12 tires, so that should bring your trailer down a bit.

Hey, did the 4.80-12 tires end up lowering your trailer the way you wanted? Your results could really help others trying to adjust their trailer height. Sharing what worked might guide someone with the same setup.
