Can Aftermarket Brake Controller Install in 2021 Ram with Integrated Controller

Question:

Can I install an aftermarket brake controller in a 2021 dodge With a factory brake controller? I looked all over under there and can’t seem to find anywhere to plug and aftermarket controller into.

Hey Stacy, it's definitely possible to install an aftermarket brake controller like the Prodigy P3 part # 90195 in your 2021 Ram 3500.

To do this you will have to disconnect the ITBM (Integrated Trailer Brake Module). Doing so will turn on a warning lamp on the instrument cluster. In order to disconnect the ITBM and not get the warning lamp, your local Dodge dealer will have to reconfigure the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module), of the truck. Once the TIPM has been reconfigured, and the ITBM has been unplugged, you can use a vehicle specific brake control harness such as the Tekonsha # 3024-P, to install the aftermarket brake control.

To find the plug for the brake controller you'd want to trace the wires from the back of your OEM controller to where the connect to the truck's wiring.
