Why Can Curt Hitch C13704 Only Have Max Width of 66 Inches

I am wondering if the length of the cross bar is 68.5", how come it can only support maximum width of 66"? Are the bolt holes on the bracket inset 1.25" on each side? Best

Correct, the brackets of the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # C13704 are inset which is why it fits a maximum frame width of 66 inches. If you have a wider frame there is a different option, the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # 13703.
The # 13703 fits RVs with a frame up to 72 inches wide.
