Parts Needed to Convert 7k Axle Trailer with 38 inch Wheelbase to Slipper Springs

Updated 07/16/2024 | Published 06/30/2024

Question:

I am looking to change my double eye spring setup on my tandem axle deckover trailer to slipper springs. The axles need to have a 38 inch spread to the center of the axle and they are 7000lb capacity axles so I need springs to match. Axles are mounted with springs on top of the axle but I could change that if needed. Right now with the springs mounted over the axle I have 5.5 inches between the trailer frame and the u bolt plate. What parts do I need to swap this out?

Hey Clark, so for a tandem slipper spring hanger kit designed for 38 inch wheelbases is the part # HAP-105-205-01. Then for the slipper springs you'd need the part # e74SR and you'd be set.

For a u-bolt kit that is compatible with the 2 inch wide springs that I mentioned you'd then also need the part # APUBR-8.

Those springs will not work with that hanger kit. The spring hangers have a 5/8 bolt hole the spring eyes are 9/16.

@Clark If you pulled the bushing out it would be correct size.
