It sounds like you have a 3" ball mount. To secure it, I recommend the Curt Hitch Lock item # C23025. This heavy-duty locking pin is protected by a durable chrome-plated finish. The plastic dust cap will also help to protect the cylinder itself. It works with all 2", 2-1/2", and 3" hitches receivers.
