You will want to consult your owners manual to see what is involved when you flat tow your 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The items needed to flat-tow are base plates, a tow bar, safety chains, lighting for your Explorer, and most states now require a supplemental brake system.
For the base plates I recommend the Roadmaster Base Plates, part # 474-1. When you are not towing, you can remove the visible part of the brackets from the Explorer, making the system almost invisible.
I then recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, part # RM-520. This tow bar has a quick disconnect system which lets you easily mount and remove the tow bar.
The safety cables I recommend are the RoadMaster Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables, part # RM-643.
The lights that are easiest to install would be a temporary magnetic light kit like part # RM-2120.
For a supplemental braking system I recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, part # RM-9400. This is an inertia-activated proportional braking system for quicker and safer stops.
