Question:
i INSTALLED A CURT ELECTRIC MOBILE BRAKE CONTROLLER 5118 0N MY VEHICLE. DOWNLOADED APP FROM PLAY STORE AND FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS. DEVICE WAS PAIRED WITH MY VEHICLE, BUT ITS TELLING ME I NEED AN APP TO USE THIS DEVICE. WHAT DO I DO TO GET THIS DONE? THANKS. REV. PERCY GRIFFIN-

Hello Percy, thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you are trying to pair the Curt Echo part # C51180 to the Bluetooth on your phone which is why the app is not recognizing it. You will need to go to your settings and disconnect the Bluetooth from the Curt Echo device. The go to the Curt app and pair with the brake controller thru the app. If you do not disconnect the Bluetooth from the Echo in your settings it will not allow you to pair on the app. Unlike most other Bluetooth devices, you need to pair thru the app and not thru your phone settings.

Hi Percy, did pairing the Curt Echo through the app instead of your phone’s Bluetooth fix the issue? Your update could make it easier for others setting up the same brake controller.
