What To Do If Your RV Fireplace Doesn't Have Mounting Screw Holes And How Much Clearance Is Needed

Updated 06/03/2024 | Published 05/27/2024

Question:

When installing the fireplace the metal brackets on the sides used to hold the decorative top and side in place have no holes to place screws and prevent movement when the RV is in motion. How do you mount the fireplace to keep it in place when the RV is in motion—drill screws holes in the brackets? Secondly, I have a lift TV behind the fireplace with three inches of air space between the two and twelve inches or more on each side. Should there be a barrier between the TV and fireplace or is the air space sufficient? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hey Rick,

I believe this is just a one-off issue where the manufacturer just didn't drill holes in the bracket for the mounting screws. I actually have one of the Greystone RV Curved Electric Fireplace # GR54FR here in the office that I mounted to a rolling display as an example for others to see and it did come with mounting holes. I would just drill mount holes in each corner to run some screws through to and attach the fireplace to the cabinet.

As for clearance, there really isn't anything listed for side or rear clearance because these are typically mounted in cramped spaces. The display one I have here has been used by many in the office and I've felt the back and found that it doesn't pump any heat backwards so you shouldn't have any issues with the TV.
