Wireless Brake Controller Installation in 2005 Chevrolet Venture Pulling a Pop-Up Camper with 6-Way
Question:
I have a 2005 venture that I just had a hitch put on. They wired it with a four point plug. I want to install a wireless breaking system. Can I purchase a four point apapter to connect with my popup six point plug? I want the lights and such to be connected but will it power the wireless brake module as well?

The Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # TK94FR is a great option when multiple vehicles will pull the same trailer. The linked video illustrates its installation.
To use this system you will first need to have a working 7-way on your Venture. You can use Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 to provide the 7-way. I have linked both a video and an article on installing this kit. Once installed you will have both 12V power for your Prodigy RF and your trailer and also a circuit for trailer brakes on the included 7-way.
Since your pop-up has a 6-way round connector, your best bet is to change this out for a standard 7-way. This will avoid the need for adapters and will make your pop-up compatible with the majority of tow vehicles. The easiest way to do this is with a junction box like # 38656 along with a replacement trailer-side connector # H20046 that will wire into the junction box.
You will want to use the tester included with the # ETBC7 kit to confirm the functions carried on each wire on your existing trailer connector since wire color alone is not a reliable method for identifying functions.
