Why Does Curt Make a Hitch for 2025 Toyota Camry if Toyota Says Don't Install One?
Updated 05/19/2025 | Published 05/25/2024 >
Question:
I just bought a 2025 Toyota Camry. It says in the owners manual it does not suggest putting a hitch on it. It also says that for many of the previous years. I just want to know how safe it is to put one in the vehicle and why Toyota would say not to put a hitch on.

Hey Zach, this is a really great question that I don't have a super exact answer for but I can still help. So our hitch manufacturers will basically make a hitch for any vehicle there is a demand for one. Including your 2025 Toyota Camry with the Curt # C94RV. That doesn't mean that Toyota is going to sign off on having this hitch installed but what it basically means is that if you want a hitch bad enough and are willing to assume some liability you can install one and use one "cautiously".
So what that means is you'd PROBABLY be okay to use a bike rack but probably not a great idea to try and tow a boat...

Jameson, So what you are saying is that as long as the hitch or use of hitch doesn't cause any harm to your Camry, you are okay. But if the installation of the hitch or the use of the hitch causes any harm to your Camry, you will more than like NOT be covered for the repair under the Toyota warranty and that Curt or the hitch maker, will not be held liable for any problems resulting from the hitch either. So essentially "buy and use at your own risk", right?
