Solution for 72" 2,000 lb Replacement Axle

Updated 05/20/2024 | Published 05/18/2024

Question:

Im needing to replace my trailer axle but having difficulty ringing the correct combination. Both hubs and full axle needs to be replaced. My details include: - axles: 2 outer Dia, 72 hub length, 58 spring center length - tire/wheel: P205/75R15, 5 lugs on 5 pattern I only need a 2000 lb axle but it appears the current is higher. Axles identified that fit the lengths are only 5x4.5 hubs, which means my rims need to be replaced. please advise what is available.

I do have a solution, but a 72" axle is not something that we offer in any capacity. What you can use is the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR2000S02. The system fits any frame width and replaces your axle while upgrading the suspension. This particular version has a 2,000 lb capacity and uses a # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearing.

For hubs you can use the # AKIHUB-550-35-EZ-K for an idler hub or # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K for a hub and drum assembly. Both of these have a 5 on 5 bolt pattern so you won't have to trade out your wheels. It is also worth mentioning that if you can find an axle without hubs that matches your current length you could use either of these hubs as long as the bearings match. This is a standard bearing combination for a 3,500 lb axle. You do not have to find a replacement axle that comes with hubs already installed.
