Why Can't The Factory Tie-Down Bracket Be Kept On A 2012 Prius When Installing A Hitch

why not reinstall the tie down bracket on the 2012 prius trailer hitch.

Hey Ken,
The tie-down bracket sits right where the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24967 needs to sit to mount. The manufacturer most likely could've just built the hitch to accommodate this but chose not to. If you need a tie-down point then I recommend using the safety chain loops on either side of the trailer hitch receiver tube.
