Replacement Brake Shoes

Question:
I bought a 1977 Hercules pintle hitch trailer 36600 gvrw with warner 1302 electric brakes. 218248 inner bearing 212049 outer. 2 of the 4 work good. I just got the 3rd armature I guess you call it rotating and it functions properly. Unfortunately the whole unit that bolts to the axle on the 4th wheel is missing. Im trying to locate an assembly now. The brake shoes measure 5.5inch wide and drums 12.25 id. Everything looks good but Im curious if any of parts are available. I found a unit that bolts to the axle minus shoes. Im waiting on a response from the seller to get me measurements to verify its the size I need. Would you have brake shoes?

Expert Reply:
We have brakes shoes that are 12-1/4" x 5" but not 5-1/2". They are specifically designed for Dexter brake assemblies. I'm not sure what you have there and with a 5-1/2" width I would say they aren't from Dexter. Based on the age it is likely obsolete and would require complete replacement. I would say just replace the brake assembly but I don't see a brake flange for modern brakes to bolt onto unless it isn't visible in the picture behind your spindle somewhere.
