Question:

I am towing a 4000lb RV with a weight distribution hitch with a 2023 F150. My tailgate will not open due to the tongue jack. What extension do you recommend?

Hey Gary, thanks for the question and the best option for a 2" hitch extension for use with weight distribution is one from Brophy:

- 7" Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HE06

The # HE06 is rated for up to 7,000 lbs towing/700 lbs tongue weight when used with weight distribution, but please note that it will limit your hitch capacity by 50%, so you do have to go by whichever is the lowest total.

For example, if your hitch was rated for 8,000 lbs towing/800 lbs tongue weight, with an extension the max capacity would be 4,000 lbs towing/400 lbs tongue weight.

To secure the extender in your hitch use Hitch Lock # e98880.
