50mm Hitch Ball Needed to Fit with Thule VC925 Bike Rack
Published 03/12/2024 >
Question:
Good Morning. I currently live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I have a Thule VC925 bike carrier that i brought with me from the United Kingdom UK and i have struggled to find a compatible hitch ball. I have found that the UK/Euro market use a 50mm ball, but i bought a 50mm ball from and this also doesnt seem to fit, even with the Thule ball socket wound out completely. The dimensions of the 50mm ball i bought from Curt is 50mm Ball, 50mm long threaded shaft, 3/4 wide. Do you have anything that will allow me to use this UK/EU Thule rack with a North American fitting? Thank you for your help

Thanks for reaching out, Adam!
The only 50mm hitch ball I've found to fit the Thule VC925 is the Draw-Tite part 63912. This was, unfortunately discontinued though so you'll only be able to find it used if someone is selling it.
The issue you're finding has to do with the "neck" part of the ball mount. I'm attaching a photo of the Draw-Tite "neck" dimensions so you can compare that to other 50mm options you find. If you can find one that matches these dimensions then it will definitely work for your bike rack.
Unfortunately all of the 50mm options we offer don't match these exact specs so they won't fit properly with your bike rack.
As a last resort, we do offer the North American alternative to your bike rack with the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 which is compatible with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receiver sizes.
