Question:

This says not to use if you need to carry heavy electric bikes, which I do. What would you recommend?

I have a solution for you. Here at Etrailer, we strongly discourage using wheel-mounted bike racks like the Kuat NV 2.0 # NV22B for bikes with fenders. Mounting wheels with fenders can cause the fenders to crack or become damaged, especially with the added bumps and torque from your vehicle when it is in motion.

For a solution that completely avoids any potential for damage, I recommend the Swagman Dispatch Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S44FR. Since the Dispatch mounts your bikes by the frame, it is the safer alternative to the wheel-mount system. Another great feature of the Dispatch is that it includes sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting straps that let you carry bikes with different wheelbases. The Dispatch is also compatible with fifth wheel trailers, motorhomes, flat-towed vehicles, and travel trailers.

If you need to carry heavier bikes that still uses a frame mount, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # HLY84FR. The Sport Rider SE will fit bikes up to maximum tire width of 5 inches and has a maximum per-bike weight capacity of 80 pounds. If you need a hitch receiver recommendation for your vehicle, I would be happy to provide that information if you provide the year/make/model.
