Question:

I am looking at replacing my stock fifth wheel connection on my 2021 Genesis Supreme toyhauler 37GSXL. I know the tongue weight is important when choosing the correct model. How can I determine the right fit for the option I have? I have a 6 lift on my truck and trailer comes axle flip height stock so it is nice and level from factory. Reese, or Lippert the best option?

Hi Dustin,

To find the correct replacement pin box we'll first need to determine your trailer's bolt pattern. Everything I can see shows a Lippert Rhino bolt pattern but it wouldn't hurt to double check. If you can send me some pictures of the pin box and look for a white sticker on it that lists the serial number, RPO number, and LCI Item Number I'll be able to look it up.

Gen-Y's torsion gooseneck pin boxes are great improvements over the standard couplers but an air ride coupler like the Reese Goose Box # RP85FR would offer more fine tuning to get the best ride quality. The internal air bag and shocks will help improve ride quality better than the torsion rubber design of the Gen-Y.

If you still wanted a Gen-Y pin box you'd just need to determine your tongue weight and choose yours based on the chart below. With the GVWR of your trailer being 17,500lbs you'd likely need to on in the 3.5K range like part # GY98GR.
