Question:
Timbren Axle-Less Suspension Hub Assembly Recommendation Hi, I am retrofitting a trailer with a Timbren 1,200 lb axle-less suspension. The trailer will not have brakes. Timbren says the 1,200 lb suspension has standard spindles and can accommodate a max tire size of 235/85/16. Can you recommend a hub kit that will let me run a 14 or 15 inch radial trailer tire? Do I want a 5 x 4.5 hub? Any recommendations for a wheel setup? Thanks

It looks like you ordered the Timbren # ASR1200S02 which uses # L44649 bearings. I recommend using the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub for 2K Axles # AKIHUB-545-2-LFEZ-2K which is designed for 13" to 15" wheels. You won't find 14" or 15" wheels that can use a 4 on 4 bolt pattern so you're definitely going to need a hub with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern like this one.
I'm not entirely sure what your setup is like but you will need to make sure you have clearance for the larger tires. At a minimum you want 2" of clearance on the inside and 3" of clearance on the top of the tire to allow for suspension travel. I recommend one of the following:
-Kenda Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire with 14" Black Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR C # AM32131
-Kenda Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" Black Mod Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - LR D # AM32424
The 15" tire has an outer diameter of 27.3" and section width of 8.1". The section width is the same on the 14" tire but it has a slightly smaller outer diameter of 26.3" which would equate to 0.5" of additional clearance on top of the tire. If the 15" fits then you might as well go that route. Capacity isn't a concern for either since both well exceed what your Timbren system can handle. Both of have a speed rating of M for 81 mph and come with a 5 year warranty on the tires.
