Question:
Does the 4 flat on part#37185 also work. I have two trailers one with a 4 flat and one with the 7 pole connector so just wondering if the place for the 4 flat actually has the connector or if its a spot to add one. Want an all in one connector. Thanks for the help in advance

Yes, the 4 to 7-Way adapter, # 37185, will have both a function 7-Way and 4-Way once it is properly installed.
To make it fully functional you will plug your existing 4-Way into the way at the back of the adapter. Then you will need to ground the white wire to the vehicle frame. The remaining wires have the following functions:
Blue for electric trailer brakes (requires a brake controller to control electric brakes)
Black is for 12 volt power (if the trailer requires 12 volt power, requires 40 amp circuit breaker, # PK54540)
Purple is for reverse lights (if the trailer has them)
You will also need extra wire such as # 10-1-1 sold in 1 foot increments.
Any of these functions that you do not need you can tape up the associated wire and stow it out of the way.
If you want everything to be fully functional then instead of # 37185, I recommend # ETBC7 which includes the # 37185 and all the wiring and accessories needed to make it functional (except a brake controller).
For a brake controller I recommend the P2, # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and its reliable. I have included some links that you can use for either just the # 37185 installation or for the full # ETBC7 installation.
