Can Curt Crosswing Fifth Wheel Hitch be Used with Pivoting Pin Box

Published 12/04/2023

Question:

Good morning I have a 2018 Ford F150 with a 5.5foot bed. I am pulling a Grand Design 226RK with a Curt Turning Point pin box. The RV dealer installed a BW gooseneck ball and a Blue Ox fifth wheel hitch. My turning angle is about 40 degrees. I called Curt and they recommended a Crosswing 16051 5th Wheel adapter with a 19283 wedge kit to allow access to the turning movement on the pin box. Before I order do you see any issues installing and operating this set up? Sorry for the picture quality.

It's a bummer but you can't use a pivoting pin box with a fifth wheel hitch that only attaches to a gooseneck ball as the additional twisting torque that these types of pin boxes but on hitches requires four attachment points instead of just the center ball.

Instead you'd need a set of standard fifth wheel rails installed in your truck like the Curt part # C93WR so that you can use the Crosswing that attaches to this rail style part # C92DR and the wedge # C85DR .
