Question:

To my expert at Etrailer! Sherpa 2.0 for 2020 Mazda, CX five touring. I have a 2 inch hitch Curt… wish to carry two bikes. I prefer the minimalistic footprint. Are there any less pricier options? Other than this one that may save me money. If Money was not a concern would the extra money spend be worth it? This unit also looks more simplistic to operate than others.

The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH22G is certainly tough to beat when it comes to ease of use and design. If I were to recommend an option at a lower price point it would be the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU84FR.

The Transfer V2 has a goal post design that makes it easy to get in close while loading and unloading bikes. It still has the foot lever for tilting, a locking cable, the pivoting rear cradle that self-adjusts, and ratcheting hooks to mount your bike by the wheels. It comes in 5 lbs heavier than the Sherpa 2.0 since it has a steel construction.

The Sherpa 2.0 # SH22G comes with a keyed alike locking hitch pin in addition to the cable lock. It also has the hand-tightening cam system for a tool free installation which is very nice. The Transfer has a similar mechanism but you have to use a special Allen wrench each time you install it which isn't as convenient.

If you're trying to save some money the Transfer V2 # KU84FR would be a good option that still has some premium features and a great design. If money isn't a concern I would definitely get the Sherpa 2.0. It is incredibly easy to use and it looks fantastic.
