How Does Trailer Brake Line Attach To Master Cylinder Body
Updated 04/08/2014 | Published 04/06/2014 >
Question:
I recently bought a new master cylinder m/c for my titan model 10 that came with the orifice connector for back up solenoid. My trailer is not equipped with a solenoid back up valve. Should the flexible line that connects to the m/c be connected to the orifice connector or directly to the m/c? The orifice connector greatly reduces the amount of brake fluid flow and maybe rightly so?

Expert Reply:
The master cylinder you referenced is for drum brakes and does have a check valve to maintain the correct psi level for the brakes. Disc brakes will require higher psi level and will not have the check valve.
The brass connector indicated by the red arrow in the attached photo is the orifice connector and is where your flexible brake line should be connected. The male end of the orifice has 1/8 inch threads and the female end that the brake line attaches to is 3/16 inch threads.
