Question:
I have installed this unit on my 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV. I was able to successfully, after many hours of frustration, locate the brake signal wire, the running lights wire, the left and right turn signal wires. I have a solid ground connection, as Ive sanded down the bottom of the bolt holding on the ground washer to a frame stud bolt. And I used a multi meter to test the incoming connections. I get 14-volts on the incoming break wire when the brakes are applied, and nothing when the brakes are not on, as it should be. However, the brake wire on the four-way trailer plug has a signal output of only 0.6 volts, all the time. And it does not increase when the brakes are applied. However when releasing the brake pedal it briefly spikes to 12 to 14 volts, enough to blink the lights on the trailer. All the other signals work on the trailer. Running lights work, left and right turn signals work. Does anyone have a clue what I might check to see why the brake lights arent lighting up, when the incoming brake signal voltage to the powered converter is steady and solid on my multimeter? I tested the ground connector too, it seems to be steady. Would it be same to assume my unit is faulty?

I did not see any mention of connecting the black wire on the converter. In order for the Curt # C56496 to function properly, you will need to connect the black wire to the battery in order to power the converter. If you do not have the black wire connected this will explain why you are getting low voltage out of the converter. You can use the wiring kit # 55151 to run power to the converter module.
