Question:
Hi, wondering what is meant by measuring the area around the trailer tires to get the correct fender size. Do you mean the horizontal distance from the bottom of the front of the fender to the bottom of the back of the fender?

I'm not sure what you are referencing specifically by measuring the area around the trailer tire to get the correct fender size. To get the correct fender you simply need to know the size of your wheel, or you can measure your current fenders (if applicable). Wheels only have certain trailer tire sizes they fit, so knowing the wheel size will get you the correct fender size in terms of length and width.
For example, if you have 14 inch wheels you could use the CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fenders w/ Top and Side Steps - Black Plastic - 14" Wheels # CE19504-2.
The 43-1/8" long x 11" wide x 12-1/2" tall dimensions of this fender will accommodate tires that fit on a 14" wheel. I have added a link below to our entire selection of trailer fenders which you can filter through by wheel size.
