Recommended 7-Way Power Adapter for a Furrion Camera System on Newer Trucks

Updated 05/22/2025 | Published 09/13/2023

Question:

I have a 2022 Ram 1500. I bought a furrion backup camera for my 34ft travel trailer that was prewired for a furrion camera. It works fine but when I press the brakes the camera shuts off. Would this solve the issue? I havent found a whole lot of information on RAM having voltage issues with the trailer lights.

Yes, it will. The 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter for Furrion RV Observation Camera item # FR87PR provides a steady flow of power to your Furrion system. The electronics in the newer trucks like your 2022 Ram 1500 send a pulse signal that isn't consist enough to power the camera or cameras. This adapter fixes that.

We have a 2022 Ram 1500 and a furrion camera system on our 27' travel trailer. The monitor is the FOS7HTASF and the side cameras are the FCE48TASH. The rear camera has no issues, but the side cameras will not pair. The trailer was pre-wired for the furrion camera system and an option installed by the dealer. Could this be the same issue experienced by others with newer vehicles and resolved with an adapter?

@Ron It very well could be. The newer trucks like your 2022 Ram 1500 use a power modulation system that doesn't send a consistent enough voltage level through the 7-way to supply the cameras. The 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter item # FR87PR solves this problem. Here are some other troubleshooting steps I recommend running through first though. Check the running light circuit that the side cameras are connected to. If there's no power to them the side cameras will not work. The rear camera is on a different circuit typically. Do a factory reset of your entire backup system and then re-pair all of the cameras. Use a second vehicle and get as close to the cameras as possible, plug the monitor in, and then try to re-pair the cameras.

@JerredH Jarred, Just an update, long story short, the side cameras are not compatible with the monitor. Side cameras are Vision S, monitor is Vision S+. I've notified the dealer of the issue. Once we get that straightened out we'll see if there is an issue with PWM. I did end up calling Furrion customer support. One of the troubleshooting procedures was to install a blade fuse between the 11 o'clock pin and the 1 o'clock pin on the trailer plug. This activated the rider lights and provided a constant 12v supply to the cameras. This is probably common knowledge, but I thought to include it as an easy way to confirm if there is a PWM issue with the tow vehicle.

@Ron Glad you got some answers from the dealer and you're getting things sorted out. I have not heard of that blade fuse trick so thanks for that heads up.
