Question:
Hi, I have a 2016 Toyota Highlander XLE that comes with the tow package, hitch and connectors not included. We had Toyota install the OEM hitch when we bought the car for a bicycle rack. Now we want to tow our boat that has a 7 blade connector and surge brakes trailer. It doesnt need a trailer brake controller, right? Just to make sure the trailer brakes disengage when backing up. Do you have a wiring harness for that? I see kits with controllers. Thanks.

Odd that your trailer has hydraulic surge brakes and a 7-way, but you do not need a trailer brake controller unless your trailer has electric brakes. So all you need for your 2016 Toyota Highlander with the factory tow package is a 4-way and then a 4-way to 7-way adapter:
- T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 56042
- Adapter 4 Way to 7-Blade RV Connector # C96KR
You'll just plug the 4-way into the 7-way, and you can just cap off the three loose wires of the 7-way.
