Good Morning: Will the Surco Exterior RV Ladder - Aluminum - 84-1/2 - 250 lbs work as a replacement ladder on a 1999 Jayco Eagle 283G? Thank you.

The exterior ladders that we offer, like the Surco Exterior RV Ladder # SP502L you referenced, are all universal-fit designs that can be cut to fit. To ensure that this would be the correct size you'll want to measure from the starting point of the ladder near the ground to the top of the motorhome and then add an extra 8" for the bend that sits above the roof. If you find you have a larger measurement than 76" then you'll likely need to use a longer option like the Stromberg Carlson Exterior RV Ladder - Aluminum - 99-1/2" Tall # LA-401BA.

Once you determine that the height will be enough you'll want to try reaching out to Jayco to see if you can get a dimensional drawing for the stud placement. You can try to use the previous ladder's mounting locations as a guide but a drawing with exact dimensions is always going to be much easier. I recommend using butyl tape # AL28FJ on the back of the mounting brackets and non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 over the mounting screws to ensure water can't leak into the walls of the motorhome.
