Why Go to a Larger Wheel and Tire on a Bass Boat

is there a benefit to go from 13 inch to 14 inch tires on my Bass Tracker 175tx trailor?

Helpful Expert Reply:

When people go to a larger diameter wheel on their trailer they usually do it so they can use tires with higher capacities or they want to increase the overall diameter of the wheel/tire so that they can increase the ground clearance of the trailer.

If either of those reasons are interesting you will need to consider the current diameter of your trailer tire and how much clearance you have with any fenders or anything else on your trailer.

Also, you should know that by increasing the tire and wheel capacity you are not necessarily increasing your trailer capacity as a whole. When determining the overall capacity of a trailer you must always go with the lowest rated component as the overall capacity, since you are only as strong as your weakest link.

In order to pick out the correct wheel for your trailer you need to know the bolt pattern of the wheels that are on your trailer. I attached an FAQ article on how to do this for you to check out.
