Question:
I have a new 2024 Chevrolet 3500 towing a new Alliance Paradigm 5th wheel. I’m having the same issue I’ve read about the “incompatibility” on etrailer and elsewhere. This fancy trailer awareness system repeatedly states that it is disconnected or check trailer wiring as I’m towing and this makes the brake controller inoperable. It’s not loose or needs dielectric grease. The lights do function appropriately. It can occur when sitting idling. Or even work for long periods of time before error occurs. Some of the prior model Chevy’s use this black box part K58 you sell from Dexter Axle that ties in line with the system. However it’s states for use with electric over hydraulic brake system which I do not have. Only electric. Is this black box just a diode to feed from feeding back to the RV battery system or solar? Or is it more complex? I’ve used diodes for towing my Jeep when I had a Motorcoach so I’m somewhat familiar with the practice. Any advice? Best Regards,

Does your trailer have solar panels? We've heard of this issue and and it appears there is a tech bulletin out about how the solar panel kits on trailers make the truck have this issue and disconnecting helps. The tech bulletin is 23-NA-113 and we've heard they are working on a fix for it.
One person was able to get it to work by installing the # HBA-CAM on their trucks' trailer wiring so that's an option too.

I worked for 2-days to try to resolved the same issue on my 2024 GMC 3500. My 5th wheel is configured with 3 100Ah Lithium batteries, and 500W of solar. I purchases the 3500 less than a month ago. I pulled my 5th wheel for about 500 miles with cloud cover. Now that I see the tech bulletin I realized the last ~500 miles was under sunny skies which caused the dangerous brake disconnect. Not knowing about the bulletin, back at the home base, I started troubleshooting. Each time I started my truck it said "Check Wiring." and "Brakes Disconnected" If I tried using the trailer brake, the bar graph would not move. Then sometimes, after 2-3 minutes, the trailer brakes would connect, the bar graph would move as expected. The voltage at the box, on the trailer king pin, blue wire, would show 12V when connected and 0 when failing. I removed the black wire (+12V) from that same king pin box. That is the charge wire to the 5th wheel, and the one that is seeing too high of voltage coming from the 5th wheel battery. With the 12V black wire removed, the brakes connect every time. That confirmed what the bulletin says except I disconnected the wire instead of turning off the solar charging.
