Will the demco 18k autoslider fit in a 55inch box or is the base to long? Only reason for going this size is for purchasing 1 fifth wheel plate and using it in a bigger pickup later.

Demco has a slider hitch that would provide enough clearance with the part # DM8550040 that slides back 22-1/2 inches but the hitch you mentioned only provides about half of that so it wouldn't allow you to make a tight turn. You'd need a rail kit for your 2019 Ram 1500 with the part # DM8552032-71 which is a confirmed fit.
