Can Fixed 5th Wheel Hitch Be Used for 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 Short Bed OEM Puck System

Question:

I've seen people say that they can turn just fine with a fixed hitch on their short bed GM pickup but I see that you guys only say to use the sliding hitches. Is this just a safety thing or can I use a fixed hitch on my 2024 Sierra 2500 with the short bed? I'd rather not use a bigger sliding hitch if I can avoid it. I also have the factory puck system on my truck. Thank you!

You definitely can use a fixed 5th wheel hitch for the puck system on your short bed 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 as long as you're towing a newer-style 5th wheel that has the tapered nose. We typically recommend the sliding hitch because it just eliminates any guesswork about fitment, but with the tapered nose design you'll be just fine with the fixed option.
