Does a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 Short Bed Puck System Need a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch

I have a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 with a short bed and the factory puck system. Do I need to have a sliding 5th wheel hitch for this setup?

You actually don't need to use a sliding 5th wheel hitch even though your 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 has a short bed. On other brand trucks (like Ram and Ford) the cab sits a bit close to the OEM puck system so you need a slider to prevent the 5th wheel from making contact with the truck cab, but for GM pickups we've found that the puck system sits back far enough from the cab that a stationary hitch can be used as long as the 5th wheel trailer has a tapered nose.

For a 5th wheel hitch I recommend picking up the 25K B&W Companion # BWRVK3715 because of how reliable it is and the great ride quality it provides. I've attached an installation video of this hitch in a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 puck system for your reference!
