Will The Adarac M-Series Ladder Rack Work With A Hard Folding Tonneau Cover
Updated 06/26/2023 | Published 06/23/2023 >
Question:
Have you guys installed this with a hard folding cover and utilizing the ability of the uprights to slide out of the way to accommodate folding the cover open, if even only partially open? I like the security and solid nature of a folding hard cover but dont want/need the height of the taller bars since I wanted to carry bikes and/or a cargo basket on the bars.

The bars of the Adarac Aluminum M-Series Custom Truck Bed Ladder Rack # AD49FR haven't been tested with a hard folding cover, but I can say with certainty that they sit so low that you'd have to move them every time you wanted to fold up the cover. These crossbars will sit approximately 12" above the bedrails so that's not typically going to be enough to fold over a panel of a hard cover. You'd have to slide the bars towards the cab to fold the cover and then slide them back to get enough room for the cover to fully open.
You can do it but with the bars requiring tools in order to move it will end up being a hassle. There are other ladder rack options that have easier to slide towers, but the cost is quite high compared to the # AD49FR.
