Question:
I have an old U-Haul trailer and would like to convert it over to electric brakes. Is something like that possible with the parts you sell? Thank you very much.

Yes, it is possible to convert your U-Haul Trailer from hydraulic to electric trailer brakes. Using a kit like the Hydrastar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Drum Brakes # HS481-8065 allows you to keep your brakes and brake lines already on your trailer. It will only then require a Coupler # DM15000-52 to replace your surge coupler. If you can send me an image of your coupler and tongue dimensions I can use that to help verify the easiest coupler you can use to replace yours.
If you wish to install electric brakes and remove all the hydraulic components, I will need for you to remove one of the current hubs. This will allow you to measure your spindle diameters and find the bolt pattern for the brake assembly. Please let me know this information so I can help you find the correct components.
If you need any help selecting a brake controller or need a 7-way for your vehicle please let me know what your tow vehicle is going to be.
