Is it Safe to Replace Crash Bar with Curt Hitch on 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross
Published 05/18/2023 >
Question:
It looks like your hitch assembly replaces the Corolla Cross rear bumper beam. Is it as strong as the stock bumper beam? What happens if Im rear-ended when not towing a trailer? Will your hitch assembly hold up as well as the stock bumper beam?

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C64DR which is a fit for a 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross will replace the rear impact structure. It's actually stronger than the rear impact structure which will lead to less damage in the event of an accident. That said, impact structures are designed to crumple in an accident so having a more solid structure back there can have other affects which you can research more online.
