Do You Need a Custom Fit Wedge with a Curt Turning Point or is the Universal Wedge Sufficient

Question:

Im purchasing a new fifth wheel with the Curt Turning Point Pin and I think I like the Curt A series hitch C16044. My question is.. Since the King pin comes with a wedge do I have to purchase another wedge since this is a Curt Turning point Pin and a Curt A series hitch? If yes then what is the part number for the Wedge needed?

The Curt Turning Point should come with a universal wedge, which often times is sufficient. There are times when the universal wedge isn't quite good enough and you will need a custom wedge. If you switch trucks/hitches often, then a universal wedge is probably the best way to go because it will fit multiple hitches.

But if you go with the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16044 and plan on using that all of the time, then I definitely recommend going with the Sidewinder Wedge for Curt A Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # C16992. The custom fit design will better fit the funnel of the hitch and provide a tighter fit for less play than a universal wedge kit will.
