Why is Gen-Y Torsion 32K Ball Mount Rated So Much Higher Than Class V Hitch Receivers

Question:

Why is there a 32k rated boss hitch when the highest receiver hitch grade class v is only rated up to 20k max? That is 12k less than what the boss hitch is rated, is that safe?

Ball mounts, like the 32K Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount - 2-1/2" Hitch # GY79FR, are tested apart from trailer hitch receivers. You always want to abide by the lowest rated component so in this case you can essentially look at Gen-Y being overachievers and bragging about it.

It's not unusual for the hitch receiver on any given truck to be rated for more than what the truck is capable of pulling either so it's always best policy to check the weight ratings for each piece in the towing puzzle and make sure you won't be overloading anything.

I personally like the idea of using towing products rated higher than what I need, this way it ensures that the towing equipment is being stretched to the limit.
