This unique adjustable ball mount from Gen-Y Hitch has a vertical shank that is made up of 4 stacked 2-1/2" receivers. This lets you easily adjust the height of the included ball mount, or any other accessory you choose to use. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y mount absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the vehicle to the trailer and vice versa.
Driving over bumps, potholes, and uneven terrain causes road shock, which can result in a rough, bumpy ride and even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.
Pivot points are built into the Gen-Y mount. This allows for movement between the base, which slides into your vehicle's trailer hitch, and the stacked receivers, which provide the connection point for your trailer. When your trailer hits a bump, the stacked receiver portion of the mount will move up or down accordingly.
Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the receivers rise or fall, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the receivers' motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.
This type of shock-absorption system is easy to maintain. Just regularly apply grease to the built-in zerk to keep the components in working condition. No airbags to fill. No small parts to repair or replace. No hassle.
This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 4 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.
Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.
This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The red section on the top of the scale indicates your maximum tongue weight (3,500 lbs). The red section on the bottom of the scale indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). A tongue weight of at least 2,000 lbs is recommended for the built-in shock absorption to function effectively. This means that the scale's white indicator marker should be in the green section when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at this Gen-Y Torsion Ball Mount. This is gonna be for our two and a half inch hitches, and it's going to be a really high end, adjustable ball mount that gives us a lot of options for towing, but it's also going to be a shock absorbing system. The torsion system inside is going to help absorb any sort of road shock that we're experiencing going down the road. So, if you've got a heavy load on our trailer and that's bouncing up and down it's not going to transfer all of that shock and vibration to our vehicle, making for a much smoother and more enjoyable towing experience.
Let's check it out. So, before we get too far into this I do wanna point out that this is a very large ball mount with a heavy weight rating. You're going to have a 16,000 pound gross trailer weight rating on the two inch ball included in the kit, that's how much it can tow, with a maximum tongue weight of 1500 pounds. We can flip that ball around though to the two and five sixteenths one. Now, this one's going to carry a much heavier weight capacity at 32,000 pounds of gross trailer weight rating and then a max tongue weight of 3,500 pounds.
So again, very high weight rating just because the ball mount is rated for that, you do wanna make sure that your vehicle and your hitch are up to the task as well. But with this, if you don't need this much capacity I would recommend looking into some of these smaller rated ones. There's plenty of options that'll still work with the two and a half inch hitch, and they also give you a variety of different drop and rise options. Now, the way the torsion system works is in here and here we've got a solid metal bar that runs the whole length of the ball mount. That bar is gonna be surrounded by thick rubber cords and as the weight of your trailer is moving up and down that's going to be twisting those rubber cords and helping to absorb that shock in here rather than again, having a rigid structure here that transfers all that shock straight into the back of the truck.
It works really well. We've done a lot of testing with it here at etrailer and from all the people that have used these ball mounts they seem to really like them as well. The reason I stress the weight capacity of this one so much is because for that torsion system to work properly it does have a recommended tongue weight. And that recommended tongue weight is gonna be anywhere from 2000 to that 3,500 pound capacity. There's a built-in scale in the back with a hash mark and that sticker, that green zone is gonna be our ideal weight where that torsion system's gonna work really well.
And if you recall the max tongue weight when using that two inch ball, you'll know that it's not going to really be ideal for this. So, this ball mountain is really designed for any sort of heavy dew hauling. It has the capacity to do a two inch ball and some lighter trailers, but the torsion system in this one isn't gonna work super well for it. Now, the red zone on top that it's lined up with right now is showing us that we don't have any tongue weight or just not enough. So, if we we're hooked up to a trailer we could readjust our load and try to get our cargo and things moved towards the front of the trailer and give us more tongue weight. And then that red zone at the very end let's us know that we're overloaded and it's too much for the ball mount to handle. One other thing I wanna point out with the ball mount here is that you've probably noticed that we've got two pins in the side. One of them we've already used. It's holding in the ball itself, whether we wanna switch that two and five sixteenths or the two inch one below that but above, that's going to be for our pintle lock. So, if I remove this, I can slide that pintle lock out, resecure it with the other hole. So, if we have a lunette ring trailer, we can drop it over top and lock it in place with this and now the ball mount will work with those types of trailers. The pintle lock isn't required. You can remove it if you want to. You will have to get the ball out of there first just to fully remove it. So, if you don't have a need for it no need to worry about it. You can just set this to the side. But if you do need it, it's included and you don't have to worry about getting it separately. With this, you are going to get up to a six inch drop and that's in the lowest position where it's at right now. And by removing the ball, you can move it up to get up to a three inch rise. Now, let's say we need a little bit more room than that, maybe we need more than that three inch rise. We can remove the entire thing from the hitch receiver on our vehicle and flip it around to get a little bit more rise than drop. A couple things to point out when you are flipping it around is that they don't include a hitch pin for the vehicle side. I would strongly recommend picking up a locking hitch pin for something like this just so it's secure. And whenever we are taking it out of the receiver tube, it is very heavy. This thing is definitely built tough and you can feel that whenever you're lifting it in and out of the hitch because it is a monster. But getting it flipped around is still doable on your own. I just advise that you use good lifting technique and lift from the legs of course. And as we slide it into the hitch, you'll notice that we do have two different hitch pin holes rather to choose from. One that's gonna give us a little more clearance and stick out a bit further from the vehicle, only by about an inch but it does give us some more room. And the innermost one, which I will use today. (metal clanking) Like I kind of mentioned before this is really solid construction, all steel, zinc primer, and a powder coat finish on top of that to help resist rust and corrosion over time. Just by lifting it, you can tell it's really well made and it's gonna be built to last. The nice thing about the torsion system and what a lot of people like about it is because it's very low maintenance. All we really need to worry about is greasing it every 3000 miles or so is what Gen-Y recommends. They've got fittings at the top and the bottom to make that really easy to do as well. And that's really all there is to it for the Gen-Y Torsion Ball Mount. This one is really designed for heavy hauling. So, if you don't have a load that you're frequently carrying that's going to be in that really high tongue weight range, then I would look at one of the more light duty ones from Gen-Y. They've got some that go all the way down to a 10K gross towing weight capacity. So, if you don't need anything super heavy, I'd go with one of those because it's gonna be easier to load it into that ideal range for it to work with your tongue weight. But if you have really heavy loads that you're gonna be carrying and you need something that's up to the task then this one certainly fits the bill. Thanks for watching.

Insert this shock-absorbing, adjustable mount into your hitch to get 4 stacked 2-1/2" receivers. Flexing rubber cords limit shock. Tongue weight scale shows if load needs to be adjusted. 2" Ball, 2-5/16" ball, and pintle hook included.I just received the hitch and installed it but have not had a chance to pull with it. It appears to be very well made and is a heavy hitch at 118lbs. I have a 45ft coach and pull a 16k stacker trailer so will see how it does. Will update in a couple of weeks.
I pull a 22k stacker trailer with about 3000lb of tongue weight with a class A pusher with a custom receiver hitch that I had built for it. Decided to try the gen y after talking with someone else who swore by it. After driving cross country I can say it improved the ride quality dramatically. Worth every penny
Great hitch, I have worked it pretty hard, and had no issues so far.
Best costumer service, fast delivery, this company its very easy to do business with, 5 star service! Will do business again soon!
Fast shipping and great costumer servic e!
Wish it came with 2 locking pins instead, even if it cost more. Makes a difference pulling equipment or dump trailers full of dirt or concrete. Almost dropped a star because all the attention it gets.
Excellent product.
Looks like very high quality hitch. Cant wait to try it out. Not for removal when not in use unless you need a good workout! Shipping weight is 120 pounds!
This hitch is amazing!!! Be prepared though it is very heavy! I love how easy it is to adjust to different heights and ball sizes with the 2 common sizes provided. The scale on the back can be helpful to let you know if you have the proper trailer weight. The more you use it the more you will like it!
THis is our second Boss hitch they are wonderful and function just as designed to smooth out the impacts between the truck and rig. Had a slight issue with the first delivery but E-Trailer replaced it no questions asked and two days later the new one showed up and the UPS driver took away the first. Great customer service which is very rare these dasys.
Love the height adjustment for all 3 of my trailers suuper solid, I get compliments all the time when people see it "wow that things stout!" Keeps the trailer tongue from excessive bobbing, the pins it came with are a huge improvement from the standard Bobby pin style I was used to. Over all I do not regret a dollar spent and would highly recommend to anyone looking for an initial purchase or upgrade their tow life
After using this for 100 miles, I ordered another one for my other truck. Heavy and well built, you might not want to take it on and off frequently. Definitely makes towing more comfortable, not in the cab but for the trailer and its' cargo, too. I highly recommend this for anyone pulling a trailer.
It was well packaged shipping was great received it within a week installation was easy weighing only 73 pounds. It does affect the center back up sensors on a 2022 , 3500 long bed ram pick up.
I did my research before ordering. I know exactly what I need and want. My boat trailer tongue weight is 750lbs so I went with the Gen-Y Torsion Flex 2" Hitch - 7.5" Drop/Rise 10k. (Works Best with 400-1,000lbs tongue weight). Also got the BEST price due to their 110% Price Match Guarantee.
Having the built in tongue weight indicator is a true benefit. The torsion movement of the receiver absorbs harsh hi-way road conditions.
I had no problems pulling 10,000 plus miles, with trailers weighting #8,000 to #1000. Would highly recommend this receiver.
I love this heavy duty--emphasis on HEAVY--hitch! I barely felt my trailer on my truck while driving it was so smooth! The only drawback is how heavy it is... It is a bit of a feat for me to lift and insert then remove this hitch at the end of a race weekend--but I feel it is well worth it!
Fantastic heavy duty hitch.
Heavy duty hitch for sure, can’t wait to start using it. Customer service was excellent, very fast shipping.
The hitch works great and helps to smooth out the ride when towing heavy loads.
I've several trips lately that involved towing, used a friend of mine's 21K torsion and loved it so, I bought my own. Mine is a 16K but plenty of beef for what I tow. Thank you again, made in America and was delivered extremely quick. Best product I've ever seen for towing especially bumper pull. I'm telling all my friends who have trucks and bumper pull.
