Question:
I have this installed on my 2011 Lexus GX460 with factory towing plug. I cannot get smooth transition from highway to town braking. I have to adjust each time I get to a toll, or when coming off of the highway to roads. It is in proportional mode according to the lights. Also, the brake indicator light often looks purple instead of red. Any thoughts would be great, I am considering shifting to the techumsa because I have had nothing but problems with the redarc.

If you're having issue with braking adjustments on your Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller part # RED44FR, I first recommend finding a new spot for the main unit. The main unit needs to be attached to a solid surface, without movement. The main unit houses the inertia sensor so if it's not solid and moving around, it could very well contribute to unpredictable braking. If this doesn't help, unplug the controller so you can allow it to reset, then recalibrate the unit. The purple light is pretty much normal. The LED on the knob will fade from blue to red as you increase the gain. So it should be blue at about 1, and red at 10.
If you do wish to switch to a Tekonsha trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885.
