Can this be used for towing a 10,000 pound trailer or am I better suited buying a traditional reducer sleeve?

The Kuat Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve part # KU93VR is not designed for towing so I don't recommend using this as such. Instead, I recommend the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve part # C45405 which will allow you to use your 2" hitch accessories inside your 2-1/2" receiver. Please note, you might also need a larger hitch pin for the 2-1/2" for which I recommend the Pin and Clip for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches part # C21500.
