Question:

I have a Ram 1500 that I plan to use to tow a 5,900 gvwr travel trailer. could very well have the truck loaded to capacity, which makes it sag. Going to get a wdh, but also looking for extra support for towing. Ive seen helper airbags and helper springs but not too clear on the pros and cons, as well as other options that might be available

I do have some suspension enhancement options for a 2017 Ram 1500 but as this truck uses rear coil springs, they are not typically what you would see on other trucks such as an add-a-leaf on a Silverado 1500 or F-150. I recommend either the Air Lift 1000 Heavy Duty Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs part # AL60818HD or the SuperCoils Custom Suspension Coils part # SSC-50. The correct choice really comes down to how much you'll be using the truck for towing. If you're towing every week or even every other week then go with the SuperCoils Custom Suspension Coils as they replace the rear coil springs with a more heavy duty option so they will offer the support you need for frequent loads without any additional hassle. That said, they will make the ride a bit stiffer so if you are only towing a few times a year then the Air Lift 1000 Heavy Duty Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs would be a much better option for you as they are there when you need it but won't affect the ride when you don't. All you need to do is find access to a compressor so you can fill them to your desired psi for the right amount of support.
