Question:
My question is about A Progressive Dynamics Inc. 4045 converter. It appears that the cooling fan wire has been intentionally cut and possibly the fan has been changed. Was the original fan DC 12 volt or AC 120? Can you tell me what model was the original fan? Thank you

Expert Reply:
The fan on the Progressive Dynamics 4000 Series Mini RV Converter # PD4045KA is wired to the circuit board and powered by AC power and not DC power.
Typically, when the fan goes out we recommend replacing the entire converter section with the Replacement Converter Section for Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power 4000 Series # PD4045CSV.
I do not know specifically what fan is used in the converter, but looking at it; it seems to be a computer style fan. It is possible that you could find a replacement or take it into a computer repair shop and they may be able to repair the fan.
