Question:
Why not a bedroom or bathroom? We have a Fleetwood Nitrous toy hauler. There are no rooms other than a bed room or bathroom. Tankless designs like these wont fit where the Atwood was. We were thinking about installing this under the bathroom sink which is next to the bed, but also in the hall, if you can call it that. See attached pic where the arrow is.

Because the Excel RV Tankless Water Heater # EX93FR uses propane it's not a great idea to use it in a small room like the bedroom or bathroom in the event that there was a gas leak. With these rooms being typically being smaller there's not going to be enough oxygen to dissipate the gas in the event of a leak. This system also has a ODS sensor that detects oxygen levels and will cut off the unit if the level goes below a certain amount. Mounting the unit in a small area with no ventilation could lead to operating issues.
With the very limited space you have the bathroom cabinet is most likely going to be the only space you can place this style unit but you'll need at least 3" of clearance from each side and 8" of clearance from the top of the body of the water heater . What most people have done when switching to this style water heater is just simply mount it right next to their current water heater in the compartment so that they don't have to run the water and gas lines as far.
If this isn't a feasible option then you could just replace the Atwood unit you have with the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR98SR. Depending on the door size of your Atwood unit you may also need a larger door, 16" x 18" # FR48SR or 18" x 18" # FR68SR. This would take the same space as your current unit and wouldn't take up space in the camper or have you run new water and gas lines. These units will also offer superior performance than the Excel unit.
