Question:
IS the solera awning switch considered a dynamic Brakeinch switch? My awning continues to extend slowly like a drift after releasing my current switch so I am thinking the switch may be broken.

No, The Replacement Switch Kit # LC285500 you were looking at for your Solera awning is not a dynamic switch, it's just a regular switch.
You can easily test if it's the switch by unhooking it with the awning all the way closed and seeing if it still slowly opens.
Based on the issue you described it sounds more like the motor has an issue as that's what is used to keep the awning from opening when power is not sent to it. More than likely you're going to need # LC266149 if your awning was made before 2015, or # LC373566 if your awning was made after 2015.
