Question:
I am wanting to get a fifth wheel hitch for my 2014 dodge ram 1500 with the 5 1/2 foot bed. I would like the Bandw patriot slider. Will this work with my truck

The B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider item # BWRVK3270 will most likely not work in your 2014 Ram 1500 since you have the 5-1/2' bed. If you had the 6-1/2" you would definitely be ok but the super short beds are just not big enough for sliders.
Since you have the 5-1/2' bed a better option for clearance would be to use the non-sliding B&W Patriot item # BWRVK3255 along with a rotating pin box. The slider will not give you enough clearance to avoid hitting the back of your truck. The fixed Patriot paired with a rotating pin box will move the pivot point back and above your truck bed for additional clearance.
You will want to use the B&W 5th Wheel Installation Kit item # BWRVR3205-00 for the Patriot Hitch. This custom install kit will provide you with a set of industry standard rails.
To make towing with a 5th wheel easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long item # C56000. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.
