Troubleshooting No Power Going To Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller

Question:
Hi guys, not getting power to my Curt echo Bluetooth electric brakes. My car has a 7pin, I purchased a 12 pin trailer adapter but no luck on power. Does the Curt echo specifically need a 12pin? We were told plug and play on a 7pin is possible.

First you will want to check your owners manual as your specific vehicle may have an ECU which does not send power on the 12 volt circuit until it detects a trailer connection. This is most commonly found on the 2015 and newer Ford F-150's. Otherwise if your 7-way is a factory installed unit be sure to check any fuses or relays which may be missing or damaged for the 12 volt charge line. If it is an aftermarket add on you will need to check the wiring to determine if that portion was connected. If you need further assistance, please let me know what vehicle you have along with if the 7-way is factory or aftermarket so I can better help you narrow down possible issues.
