Question:
Is there any benefit in going above the load range shown on the trailer info plate? Putting D rated tires on a trailer that fits the load weight for “c” rated tires.

Expert Reply:
Yes, the higher rated load range is going to have a higher capacity, which means that there will be less wear and tear on the tires. The higher the strain on the tires the more heat builds up and heat is the biggest enemy of tires. Since the tires would be overrated for the load they wouldn't have as much strain and would run cooler, ultimately giving your tires a longer lifespan.
Along with that you'll also want to use tire covers like Adco's # 290-3952 to help protect the sidewalls of your tires from UV rays. If you need any help picking out the correct tires and/or wheels then let me know what sizes you're looking for and I'd be happy to help you out.
