Why Can't the Roadmaster EZ-5 Base Plate Kit Work with a Hitch Ball Style Tow Bar

I see that they are claiming that this base plate kit is not compatible with towbars using a ball type hitch attachment. Any valid safety reason for this or is it just proprietary reasons?

The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM39FR for your 2022 Ford Escape cannot be used with a tow bar that attaches to a hitch ball like the Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar # RM-501 because it cannot use or accommodate a Roadmaster crossbar, which is needed to use that style of tow bar.
If you already have that kind of tow bar, you would want to use the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # RM59FR.
