Modifying Crossbar Clamps For Yakima LockNLoad Platform Rack To Fit 2" Crossbars

Question:
I have a yakima locknload platform with the crossbar clamps. I have crossbars that are about 1.75 in thick. Yakimas product page for the clamps claims they will work for up to a 2 square tube. But this leaves very few threads for the lock nuts to grab. Do you have a recommendation for this? Either an aftermarket clamping mechanism, a replacement u-bolt with a longer shank, or some other alternative? Thanks !

Per the instructions for the Crossbar Clamps # Y05039 used on the Yakima LockNLoad Platform Rack # Y05045-39 you may need to remove the cushion on the U-Bolt section for to properly fit some 2" crossbars. I have linked these instructions below for you to see in step 2 on page 2. This should provide you with adequate threads for the included nyloc nuts to grab.
